Blocking Users

If someone is making you uncomfortable, you can block them to protect your experience. Blocking is private — the other person will not be notified — and it is fully reversible at any time.

How to Block Someone

There are two ways to block a user:

From a message

  1. Long-press (or tap) any message sent by the person in a Green Room or Direct Monologue conversation
  2. Select "Block User" from the menu
  3. Confirm when prompted

From the Character Browser

  1. Tap any of their characters in the Character Browser to open their Lanyard
  2. Select "Block User"
  3. Confirm when prompted

What Happens When You Block Someone

Blocking applies to the person behind the characters, not just a single character. When you block someone, all of their characters are affected:

  • Character Browser: All of their characters are hidden from your view
  • Dating: Their dating profiles will no longer appear in your results
  • Direct Monologue: Existing conversations are hidden from your inbox, and neither of you can start a new conversation

Green Rooms are shared community spaces, so messages from blocked users will still be visible there. If you feel uncomfortable in a particular Green Room, you can leave it at any time.

Viewing Your Blocked List

To see who you have blocked:

  1. Open Account Settings (tap the cog icon)
  2. Select the "Blocked Users" tab
  3. You will see a list of everyone you have blocked, along with an "Unblock" option next to each person

Unblocking Someone

You can unblock someone at any time from two places:

  • Account Settings > Blocked Users — tap "Unblock" next to the person
  • Character Browser — open one of their characters' Lanyard and select "Unblock User"

When you unblock someone, their characters will reappear in the Character Browser and Dating, and Direct Monologue will be available again.

Need Further Help?

If you are experiencing behaviour that makes you feel unsafe, blocking is just one of the tools available to you. You can also report the situation directly:

  1. Prefer the in-app support ticket (open the app, click the cog, then Share Feedback)
  2. Use the Contact Form at masquerading.com/contact (select "Report Inappropriate Behavior")
  3. Provide details: Include the username, what happened, where, and when
  4. Include evidence: Screenshots help us take faster action

The Masquerading team takes all reports seriously and will investigate promptly.
